Rob Edwards and O'Neil Among Wolves Head Coach Candidates

Edwards and O'Neil represent the initial names in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday following the team's 10-match without a victory beginning to the Premier League campaign.

And both candidates - each of whom have previous associations to the team - are among the options to be evaluated by the club ownership.

The manager is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the former Luton manager - who made over a century of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is considered a leading candidate for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is said to have backing from the club board as they begin the search of hiring a fresh manager.

O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising choice considering he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The former West Ham United midfielder is out of work meaning Wolves would not be required to pay any compensation.
