Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
